The Santa Muerte Devotional Candle Collection by The Spiritual Alchemists was created in honor of Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte — Our Lady of Holy Death, a revered figure within Mexican folk devotion whose imagery embodies the certainty of death and the equality of all who eventually stand before it.

Devotees approach Santa Muerte for many different reasons, including protection, guidance, justice, prosperity, love, healing intentions, spiritual strength, road opening, and assistance during difficult or uncertain circumstances.

Unlike a single-purpose spiritual candle, Santa Muerte is traditionally represented in different colored robes, with each color associated with particular intentions and petitions. This collection honors those distinctions by offering multiple Santa Muerte designs so that you may select the color that corresponds most closely with the nature of your work.

All Santa Muerte candles in this collection are sold completely unprepared.

They have not been dressed, anointed, fixed, blessed, petitioned, prayed over, or ritually prepared prior to purchase. This allows devotees and practitioners to work with the candle according to their own traditions, prayers, petitions, and relationship with Santa Muerte.

Burn the candle as received for devotional purposes, or prepare it using the appropriate oils, herbs, powders, petitions, prayers, offerings, or other ritual components used within your personal practice.

Whether placed upon an established Santa Muerte altar or selected for a specific petition, this candle is intended to provide a striking devotional focal point through which you may approach La Santísima Muerte according to your own practice.

Burn Instructions:

Every candle comes with a candle care & burn instructions.

Instructions/caution:
Trim the wick to ¼ inch each time before burning. Long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning or flaring.
Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface. This will also help prevent possible heat damage to counters and table surfaces and prevent glass containers from cracking or breaking.
Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
Avoid drafts, vents or air currents. This will help prevent rapid or uneven burning, sooting, and excessive dripping.
Burn for 2-3 hours each time you light the candle. This will help the candle burn evenly, and remember to trim wicks before each burn.
Never touch or move a burning candle. Never move a container candle when the wax is liquified.
Don’t burn a candle all the way down. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when there is 1/4" inch of wax left in the container.
Place burning candles at least three inches apart from one another. This is to make sure they don’t melt one another, or create their own drafts that will cause the candles to burn improperly.
Extinguish a candle if the flame becomes too high or flickers repeatedly. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, and check for unwanted drafts before re-lighting.
Always keep the candle within your sight. If you are going to leave the room, be sure to first blow out all candles.
