The Anima Sola Candle is inspired by the centuries-old Catholic folk-devotional image of the “Lonely Soul” or “Solitary Soul”—traditionally depicted as a woman surrounded by the flames of Purgatory, lifting her prayers toward Heaven and awaiting relief from suffering.

Over time, devotion to Anima Sola has also entered various forms of Latin American and Caribbean folk spirituality, where practitioners may approach her through prayer, petitions, offerings, and candle work.

The imagery of this candle reflects the solemn nature of that tradition: flames, prayer, the rosary, crosses, skulls, the hourglass, and dark roses evoke mortality, spiritual suffering, remembrance, time, repentance, and the hope of release.

The Anima Sola Candle may be used as a devotional focal point for prayer and spiritual work associated with the departed, remembrance, mercy, spiritual release, difficult or seemingly impossible petitions, repentance, and seeking assistance through the traditional intercession of the Lonely Soul.

The hourglass serves as a reminder that earthly life is temporary. The surrounding flames represent purification and suffering, while the praying figure at the center represents the soul that continues to reach toward Divine mercy even from within the fire.
